Help—Frequently asked questions

How should I start fundraising?

We suggest that you begin by setting up a personal fundraising webpage on the Story by Story® website. The site provides a variety of fundraising tools, including email templates, so you can easily recruit friends, family and colleagues to support your climb.

Is there any fundraising requirement?

Yes, there is a $150 fundraising minimum for all participants. Please read the full details about this requirement

Each registrant is required to pay the $150 minimum fundraising requirement, which includes a $50 non-refundable registration fee and the additional $100, which can be personally contributed or raised.

We encourage all participants to raise or contribute $150 via the Story by Story event website no later than the event day, October 21. Climbers can also pledge to raise or contribute $150 after the event, by November 6.

Registrants can bring payment with them to the event; please bring payment to the Help Desk before or after checking in at the general Check-in Area. Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted.

As part of the registration process for all climbers, your credit card information will be securely captured and saved. Your credit card will be charged any remaining balance, if you have not raised or personally contributed $150 by November 6. You will be notified before November 6 about any remaining balance which is owed, before your credit card is charged.

Climbers who cancel their registration by the event day, October 21, will not be charged for the $150 requirement. Cancellation must be in writing, by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. The $50 registration fee, however, is not refundable.

The $150 fundraising minimum also applies to "virtual climbers." If you do not plan to attend the event, please notify This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by the event day, October 21, to avoid the $150 charge.

What should my fundraising goal be?

We suggest that every climber try to raise at least $500. And if you are more ambitious (and we hope you are), the Her Justice staff can help you determine your goal and suggest ways to reach it—call 646.442.1364 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. How can I see who has donated to me?

Go to the "My HQ" section on the Story by Story website. Log in using the username and password that you received when you registered for the event. You can then view your donor list and the amounts that have been donated.

If someone made a donation to my climb, but I don't see the donation when I check My HQ, what went wrong?

Some supporters make the mistake of donating online to Her Justice directly, rather than to an individual's fundraising page. A Her Justice staff member can check if this occurred and move the donation to your account—call 646.442.1364 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please note that an anonymous donation cannot be transferred.

What should I do if someone mistakenly made a general donation to Her Justice, rather than to my individual fundraising page?

Please see the question above.

Can I transfer my donation from one climber to another (as in cases where the original climber has dropped out of the event)?

Yes, a Her Justice staff member can move the donation for you. Please call 646.442.1364 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please note that an anonymous donation cannot be transferred.

What if someone wants to support my climb by giving me a check or cash?

Please download a hard copy of the donation form. Once the form is filled out, mail the check (and hard copy of the donation form) to Her Justice at 100 Broadway, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10005. Please discourage people from giving you cash. If you do receive cash, please deposit the cash in your bank account and write a check or money order payable to "Her Justice," then mail the check/money order to Her Justice (with the donation form, so it can be properly credited to the donor).

Is a donation to Story by Story tax-deductible?

Yes, Her Justice is a 501(c)3 organization, and all donations are 100% tax-deductible. Upon making your online donation, automatically you will receive an email confirmation. Please keep a hard copy of the email as a receipt for your tax records. Donations made by check or cash will be acknowledged by letter after the event.
